You would have to be without internet and television in order to miss the trending ALS #icebucketchallenge that has been going viral lately. Some large names have taken part – Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and many more. It’s actually very impressive. What’s more impressive is the millions of dollars in donations that the challenge has garnered. It all started with Pete Frate’s former Captain of the Boston College baseball team and professional baseball player. He was diagnosed with ALS in March of 2012, at the age of 27.
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take part in A Heritage M.E.A.L this year. Prior to being asked to volunteer my time on a couple of design projects, I didn’t know a whole lot about the event. After talking with Emily Brown and Shannon Courtney about what they needed and doing some research on the event, I decided this was definitely something I wanted to support, but even more than that – I wanted to attend.
